Project Overview - CyberRwanda

CyberRwanda is a direct-to-consumer digital platform developed by YLabs and implemented by Society for Family Health, Rwanda (SFH) that provides information on health and employment and links youth to local pharmacies to improve access to contraception and other health products. The platform was created using a human-centered design (HCD) process with Rwandan adolescents, parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to deliver effective, context-specific support for youth to prevent unplanned pregnancies.

CyberRwanda is in the middle of a 2-year implementation and evaluation phase, in which the same HCD methodology used to design CyberRwanda is applied to adapt and iterate the design of the web app and add features and content.

CyberRwanda’s impact evaluation consists of a two-year three-arm cluster-randomized control trial (RCT) conducted in 60 schools across Rwanda. The study will compare two implementation models of CyberRwanda to a control group to assess the overall impact of the program as well as the effectiveness of each implementation model relative to one another. The RCT baseline data collection was conducted in February-May 2021 and the midline data collection is currently ongoing (February-May2022).
